On Tuesday Greg & I headed out of Tallahassee for Thomasville GA to meet up with my sister, Diane. Greg & I checked out the shops in town and then met Diane at the Sweetgrass Dairy Café for lunch. Boy, do they have great cheese & yogurt. Diane has signed on for a few days to join our little adventure. On our way back to Tallahassee we did a driving tour through a beautiful southern plantation called Pebble Hill. What a gorgeous place.
Wednesday we made our way to St Augustine. For dinner that night Diane did a Low Country Boil.
Today we went into the old part of St Augustine & did the tourist thing. This is the oldest continuously occupied European settlements in the US. Lots of great old history here. Great old cemeteries, museums, churches, monuments & more. One of the museums we went in was The Lightner Museum - it was the former Alcazar Hotel - built in 1888 - it has been converted into a wonderful museum. After spending all morning exploring by lunch time we need recharging. Diane knew a great Cuban restaurant so that was our next stop. After a great lunch we checked out the Castillo de San Marcos fortress and the Fountain of Youth. We didn’t get to drink from the fountain so I guess we wont be young for ever. Tonight we are planning a BBQ by the lake down from our RV sites.(pictures later)
Tomorrow we are pulling out & moving up the coast to Brunswick GA.
