We then went to St Simons Island - I love this place - toured Fort Frederica - dates back to 1700’s. after the fort we went to Christ Church . In 1736 John & Charles Wesley started this church. My sister & I always go to this church when we are in the area. If you have read any of Eugenia Price’s books this is the place she writes about a great deal. And the people in her books are buried in this cemetery. In fact she is buried here also.
On Sunday we drove around Brunswick. We went to see a tree that is in the middle of the street in a lovely old neighborhood & is said to be one of the oldest trees around. It is a HUGE thing. It was a tree morning - after this tree we went to see another one - the other tree was the one Sidney Lanier sat under & wrote a lot of his poems.
After Brunswick we headed up the coast to Darien. Cute little fishing town. Watch a couple of guys fishing - was catching Blue Crabs. We would have loved to have been able to get some of them too. After watching them fish we decides it was lunch time so the guys took us Moms out to lunch.
Our time on the coast was coming to an end. Chuck & Gail took off on their own Monday & headed up to Savannah for a few days. Greg, Diane & I headed to Vienna (this is where my sister lives). Chuck & Gail will be meeting us here in a few days. We have been on the road for a month now & having a wonderful time. Wish you all were here with us.
