Albuquerque, New Mexico

A good ending to a fun day! ! !

Headed out from Williams this morning with Albuquerque N.M. in our sites for tonight. Arrived around lunch time in Albuquerque. After hooking up & a quick bite of lunch the 4 of us headed out to explore Old Town Albuquerque. We hit it lucky ~ there was a Founders Days celebrations going on. Music , dancing, shows & lots of pretties for sale all through the streets. Gail & I had lots of fun looking at the jewelry for sale. There was a lot of pretty stuff BUT we were good and didn’t buy any. We got to see some really cool dancing. Strolled through the streets and headed back to the RV’s and had another gourmet meal. Tomorrow we are going up to Santa Fe to do more exploring.

Grand Canyon, Winslow AZ, Painted Desert & Petrified Forest

Yesterday we did the Grand Canyon. We hiked part of the South Rim. When you look out across the expanse you see what a mighty God we have.   While at the Grand Canyon we went to the El Tovar Hotel where Chuck & Gail spent their honeymoon 20 ? years ago.  Very neat place - we did a walk through and set out side and got something to drink & then headed to the RVs.  We also went to a place call Sycamore Canyon. It was said it was a really pretty view - But -  I have to say the canyon going up the Skyway to Paradise is much prettier BUT it was a lot of fun getting there - Chuck had to do a little 4 wheeling to get to the canyon.
This morning we headed out to The Painted Desert & The Petrified Forest. Before we got there we got to “stand on the corner in Winslow AZ - such a fine site to see.” This was a really cute town. it’s the old route 66. After we left Winslow we headed to The Painted Desert & Petrified Forest. This was an unbelievable place. Pictures don’t do it justice. Tonight we are staying in a little RV Park outside of Holbrook AZ. The couple who own the park are so nice - Martha & Alfredo. Tomorrow we start out for Albuquerque & Santa Fe N M. The weather has been wonderful. Chuck, Gail , Greg & I sat out tonight and had a wonderful dinner under the stars.

Tuesdday April 17 - Day 3

Day 3 - we started out with Chuck & Gail to a little town called Oatman AZ. Greg & I weren’t too sure what this little town was all about - but it was so neat. There were burros running free all through the town and cute little shops. If you had ANY kind of food for the burros they were all over you. They say the burros were from the miners - when they left the town they left the burros too. We saw one burro going after a lady biting her purse (she also had a bag of carrots) They weren’t shy in the least. We had a nice little lunch there and then headed to Hoover Dam. We did the walk over the new bridge that looks down over the dam. Then headed back to our little home and to the puppies that were ready for a walk!!! Tomorrow we head out for Williams and then on to the Grand Canyon

Ready To Hit The Road

Well, we are off to a great start.  We left Magalia Sunday morning around 8AM & made it to Tonopah NV around 5PM.  Kind of a long day but not a bad drive.  The weather could not have been better.   It was a little cold there – snow still on the ground.  We hit the road around 7:45 and got into Boulder City NV by noon & settled in to our RV site at here at the Elks Lodge. We got a quick bite to eat and the 4 of us took out for Las Vegas.  Did the tour of the casinos, had dinner and back to our little home on wheels.  We will be here for 1 more day then off to Williams AZ.  Tomorrow Chuck & Gail are taking us to check out some little burros.  This should be a great picture op.

The Final Count Down

One week from today Greg & I start our U.S. trek.  We will be traveling with our good friends Chuck & Gail.  Everything is almost ready to go.  Greg has done all the servicing on the RV and I just need to stock the kitchen with the last minute stuff.  Can't wait to get on the road.
